Problem-Based Challenge initiative

: Jul 31, 2013 - : 2:43 am

Singapore’s CAAS has launched the Aviation Problem-Based Challenge (APC) as part of its Heart of Aviation initiative to woo aviation industries to the island state.

The first challenge proposed is to develop an automated baggage handling system for narrow body aircraft, previously a highly labour-intensive process. The challenge has a budget of S$10 million to develop promising ideas, and the winning concept will get S$500,000 in cash. “We hope [it] will encourage smaller industry players and academia to come forward with good ideas,” said Foo Sek Min, EVP, Changi Airport Group.
