Qatar Highlights Special Forces Training Ambition

The Qatar Armed Forces are investing in advanced Special Forces (SF) training capability, further highlighting their growing military training ambitions. The QAF is showcasing the capabilities of its new ‘Project 401 Integrated Training Centres’ for the first time, at the ongoing DIMDEX. The new SF joint training centre is being developed with the ambition of creating an international center of training excellence that provides up-to-date training in counter terrorism, special operations, irregular warfare tactics and procedures.

Qatar is investing in some of the latest military training technology as part of Project The training centres located at the sprawling Brouq Naval Training Camp for Joint Special Forces is a major investment in joint SF training and features leading-edge technology, an official involved in the programme told Show Daily.

Soldiers from both Qatar and abroad will be able to undertake the entire gamut of specialised military training ranging from live fire and simulated training (using Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality) in one site. The facility will have an urban training area, climbing course, zodiac boat training course, etc. It will also have a driving track and an A300 hull for hostage rescue and counter terrorism training.

Project 401 will deliver a joint training centre that will provide high-quality SF training to Qatari and friendly foreign forces. Experts will also be invited in-country to deliver sustainment training, along SF troops to remain current on their skills and also provide training in specialist areas, such as Combat Medevac.
