MCT Group, which is the authorized distributor in Qatar for the Dolphin 1 self-powered electric water rescue device, highlighted the product at DIMDEX 2024.
Dolphin 1, which is directed by a remote controller, is an innovative technology that fills the gap between traditional foam buoys and jet skis as it is more precise, cheaper to deploy, and safer for rescuers. The robot can be easily stored, transported, and deployed. It drastically improves workflows for water rescuers, marinas, and offshore oil and gas platforms and will decrease overall costs and risks involved with search and rescue missions.
According to company officials, the Dolphin1 LifeBuoy operates well in all types of water environments and is the ideal device to replace personal flotation devices. The device can propel itself to rescue a casualty faster than any skilled swimmer, while the rescuer can operate it with a remote controller to stay safe and dry.
"Victims are often unprepared for the water and panic when confronted with conditions that are beyond normal," said the official. "In these situations, unlike other water rescue equipment, when time is of the essence, the Dolphin1 LifeBuoy’s 500m range and almost 10 miles per hour speed allows it to be quickly deployed and rescue a victim in distress with remote control."
The highly visible device is bright orange in colour with high penetration flashing lights located near the front top that provide increased visibility in fog and at night, reducing the risk of losing sight of the victim and enabling rescuers to maintain a vantage point.
Marell Boats: At the show, MCT Group also introduced Marell Boats to the Qatar market.
Marell Boats from Sweden are high-performance boats and interceptors, Ideal for law enforcement, commercial and recreational customers. The boats boast high speeds up to 75 knots, and exceptional maneuverability with focus on technology and sustainability.
All boats are built in marine-grade aluminum, employing strong and light-weight construction, with a renowned safe and fuel-efficient aluminum hull. Marell's flexible platforms, ranging from 9 to 19 meters, are constructed based on the same design principles, featuring a sharp bow, wide body, and moderate deadrise aft, to ensure a dry and stable craft in all weather conditions. This, combined with the signature central helm station provides the helmsman with full control and excellent 360-degree visibility at all speeds and in all conditions.
The medium-sized patrol boats are optimal for patrolling and other assignments such as surveillance, search and rescue, boarding, and customs control. The innovative design approach makes the craft suitable for both arctic and tropical conditions.
The M12 platform can be configured as a Patrol, RIB, SAR, or Tour boat for government and commercial customers, and alternatively as a Chase, Tender or Custom boat for recreational civilian customers.
