Qatar’s Performance Marine Introduces Eshail Fully Autonomous Boat

Qatar-based Performance Marine, which is attending DIMDEX for the second time, is showcasing the 39′ Eshail fully autonomous boat that has been built at the company’s facilities in Doha.

According to Hassan Althani, a company official, the boat, which has an overall length of 13 metres and a three-metre beam, has been built in cooperation with several international companies. While L3Harris has provided the motion controls, the boat has Kongsberg’s Remote Weapon Station (RWS), and Swedish company Ullman Dynamics’s suspension seats. It is also equipped with Navico’s Simrad navigation, a Generator on board from Whisper Power, and a gyro stabilizer from Quick, Italy.

“Eshail 39 has been designed in such a way that it can either be manned or used as an unmanned surface vehicle,” says Althani. “That is why we opted for a fully enclosed air-conditioned cabin with day head and 150 litres of fresh water. Eshail 39 is capable of 300NM of operation.”

The company was established in 2008 and has design houses in the US, UK, Italy and NZ. “In 2015, we started boat building to accommodate local market needs. We then started to work closely with government sectors in all fields and to build high speed interceptor custom boats. When we attended DIMDEX 2022, we identified some potential needs. We are currently in the design phase of 18 and 20 metre military boats, which will be capable of operating both manned and unmanned. We have the capability to customize boats according to the needs of the customer. We are not currently exporting military boats, but we have ongoing discussions with potential international buyers.”
