Qatar’s Project 401 is Ready for Training

Our Bureau - : Mar 5, 2024 - : 9:12 am

One of the highlights of the ongoing DIMDEX is the Qatar Armed Forces pavilion showcasing the capabilities of Project 401’s Special Operations Training Centres. The inauguration of Project 401 training centres was announced earlier this February by Brigadier General Ali Harib Al-Harib, Deputy Commander of Qatar Emiri Signal Corps, Director of Project 401.

Speaking to GBP Daily News on the eve of the show, Brigadier General Al-Harib said the new Special Forces (SF) training centres were strategic in nature, with training to be provided for airborne, maritime and land-based SF units. The training centres located at the sprawling Brouq Naval Training Camp for Joint Special Forces are now operational and have been developed at a substantial expense to provide world-leading SF training capability for the Qatar Armed Forces.

The goal of Project 401 was to provide a high standard of training, Brigadier General Al-Harib said. Much of the technology developed and used for Project 401 has originated from Qatar. He added that invitations would be extended to foreign SF units to train at Project 401 and this would result in their best practices being passed on to the Qatar Armed Forces.

Project 401 is the first international center of training excellence in the Middle East that will provide up-to-date training in counter-terrorism, special operations, irregular warfare tactics and procedures.
