Rafael Sea Breaker Missile Production Start in 2025

The Israeli defence firm Rafael Advanced Defence Systems, is showcasing its new Sea/Ice Breaker missile for the first time in Vietnam. The long-range, autonomous precision-guided missile can strike targets as far as 300 km. The Sea/Ice Breaker weapon system belongs to a new generation of long-range missile that are resilient to GNSS-denied arenas, electronic warfare and decoys and yet relatively affordable to procure and maintain, along customer nations to build their combat mass of such missiles.

Speaking to Daily News at the ongoing show, a company official said testing and development of the new missile is slated for completion in the 2nd Quarter of 2025, with a large potion of testing already having been completed. Production of the Sea/Ice Breaker missile for customers is slated to commence next year.

The new missile system is showcase of Rafael’s growing prowess in this arena and design on the weapon system began five years ago, with company eyeing the need for tactical strike missiles operating in a GNSS denied environment, with the capability to penetrate increasingly capable Air Defence (AD) networks. According to the official, the Sea/Ice Breaker weapon system was planned as right from the start as a missile that could be operated from air, land and sea with the capability to engage targets on land and sea. Various warheads are available and the standard 250 Ib features a very high intensity explosive charge.
