Ramsa Defence Confident About Tural-1 Capabilities

Our Bureau - : Oct 25, 2024 - : 2:21 am

Ankara-based Ramsa Defense’s Tural-1, a prototype self-driving ground vehicle, is attracting a lot of attention at the ongoing SAHA Expo 2024.

The 6-wheeled Tural-1 is being built to support troops on a variety of missions. With its advanced manoeuvrability, the unmanned vehicle navigates difficult terrains easily. According to company officials, Tural-1 is unique and stands apart from the competition because of its features.

“There are many unmanned vehicles, both in Türkiye and other countries, but they are very limited,” said Abdylla Orazgylyjov, Plant Manager. “Tural-1 is the only product that is designed according to responses and ideas from the field. Many manned and unmanned vehicles are restricted. They are small and can only carry a gun or maybe a payload. The defence sector needs an integrated solution, one that can carry kamikaze unmanned ground vehicles, UAVs, and also transport a soldier, or armour.”

Tural-1, Orazgylyjov said, will carry two UGVs, and as many as ten UAVs. “Of the ten UAVs, eight will be kamikaze drones while the other two will be for surveillance. We have been working on this for over one and a half years. This is prototype 1. The second prototype is currently being manufactured. By the second quarter of next year, we will finalise prototype two. We will then start to test according to NATO standards.

“We would like the Turkish Armed Forces to be the first customer, but we are also interested in exploring the international market with Tural-1. Our kamikaze drones have been sold in large numbers to Ukraine. We are Turkish, but some of our products are already being used by friendly nations such as UAE. Our kamikaze drones have been sold to Ukraine. Tural-1 is our biggest project, but we have another new product called Hazer. It is a snake robot that can carry a one kg explosive. It can be used for surveillance as well.”
