Satair, China Eastern Sign LOI for Material Management

Our Bureau - : Nov 7, 2024 - : 6:40 pm

Satair, an Airbus Services subsidiary, and Eastern Airlines Technic, a division of China Eastern Airlines (CES), have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to explore a potential partnership. The proposed collaboration would aim to enhance material management services across CES’s Airbus fleet, which includes over 450 aircraft such as the A320, A330, and A350. The focus would be on streamlining the supply chain and maintaining a consistent flow of expendable parts to support operational efficiency.

As the largest Chinese operator of Airbus aircraft, CES would seek to benefit from optimised inventory management under this potential agreement.

Andy Lee, Managing Director, China at Satair, commented, “We are pleased to partner with China Eastern Airlines, bringing our extensive expertise in material management to one of the largest Airbus operators in the world. Our IMS solution will not only maximise spare parts availability but also optimise stock levels, helping CES to boost cash flow and improve overall operational performance.”

The collaboration is expected to provide CES with potential financial benefits by reducing excess inventory, freeing up capital for other investments, and lowering costs related to urgent part procurement. The agreement aims to ensure that CES has timely access to required parts, supporting continuous and efficient operations.

The integration of Satair’s material management capabilities would also support CES’s forecasting and inventory planning, contributing to its fleet management practices.
