Sikorsky and Boeing have decided not to file a lawsuit against the US Army’s US$7.1 billion-dollar Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) program.
The decision not to go to court follows the Government Accountability Office (GAO) releasing a 38-page public report that said that the Sikorsky-Boeing Defiant X was “unacceptable” in some key areas even though it was the cheaper bid. The team had filed a protest with the Office after the Army picked Bell Textron’s V-280 Valor tiltrotor to eventually replace thousands of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters as part of the service’s FLRAA program.

Doug Bush, army assistant secretary for acquisition, logistics, and technology, said at the award announcement that the army had factored time for a GAO decision into the programme’s schedule.
Sikorsky and Bell are competing for another major contract – the upcoming Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) program. While Sikorsky has its Raider X prototype, Bell if offering its 360 Invictus design.
