SRC, Inc., a not-for-profit research and development organisation, has secured a key role in the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s (DTRA) Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) programme through a multiple-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract valued at USD 4 billion. This contract allows for task orders to be issued until 2034.

SRC will be competing for task orders under the CWMD IDIQ contract, reflecting the company’s dedication to utilising advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, to bolster national and global security. Kevin Hair, the president and CEO of SRC, stated, “SRC’s participation with this contract reflects our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge, nascent technologies, like AI and machine learning, to enhance national and global security. We’re happy to continue supporting DTRA by providing reliable, innovative solutions that address the complexities of modern threats to help keep America and its allies safe and strong.”

Additionally, Hair emphasised SRC’s commitment to advancing research and development for the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), remarking, “We are proud to support AFRL with cutting-edge research and development. Our products and services will help advance technology for the warfighter, aiding the successful completion of the mission.”

DTRA’s mission focuses on mitigating threats posed by weapons of mass destruction and other emerging dangers. Under the new contract, SRC and its partners will engage in scientific and engineering research and development aimed at supporting DTRA’s strategic goals of deterring proliferation, preventing the use of such weapons, and countering WMD-armed adversaries. SRC’s efforts will include the development of AI, machine learning, data science, and software solutions to assist in DTRA’s objectives.

With over 30 years of experience in addressing chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, SRC has been supporting DTRA since 2007. This latest contract represents an opportunity for SRC to continue advancing technology solutions in the field of CWMD, enhancing the safety and security of the United States and its allies.
