ST Engineering Seeking Inroads into Vietnamese Market

Our Bureau - : Dec 22, 2024 - : 8:54 am

Singapore based ST Engineering is marking a larger presence at the Vietnam International Defence Expo this year, with the intent to increase its market presence in Vietnam. At the ongoing show it is focussing on three product areas; Defence Platform Electronics, Advanced Networks and Sensors and Multi-Domain training and simulation opportunities.

“We have increased our presence at this show, with the intent to showcasing our commitment to this market and we could further grow our presence at this show, two years hence.”

ST Engineering is showcasing its high-tech Defence Platform Electronics capabilities at the show, offering a digital backbone architecture that can transform the capabilities of military vehicles. This vehicle electronics solution brings together ST Engineering’s AGIL Connect, AGIL Sense, AGIL Edge and AGIL Vision technologies together. AGIL Connect is the company’s next-generation connectivity and communications solution, AGIL Sense brings together, intelligence and intuitive sensors, AGIL Edge features powerful and ruggedised computer systems, while AGIL Vision, merges various sensor into comprehensive situation picture with use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms. All these technologies are merged together inside the armoured vehicle with ST Engineering’s Vehicular Integrated Communications System (VICS) crew station. With the vehicle network now becoming fully digital, radio communications can be shared across the any of the operators or users in the video network, rather than only the person sitting next to the radio as was possible with traditional analog systems.

ST Engineering is able to integrate a vision system, which features daylight and thermal cameras placed around the vehicle which provide 360 situational awareness. Information collated from the vehicle sensors are fed into the C2 network and share with higher echelons, providing greater battlefield awareness. The company is also able to integrate a SATCOM link. All the required processing for the information collated by the vehicle sensors is run on ST Engineering’s powerful modular computing server.

ST Engineering’s AGIL Connect next-generation connectivity and communications solution, is a unique solution providing high-bandwidth 5G localized connectivity for various scenarios such as border control or disaster relief scenario. The highlight of this solution is its ability to cater for seamless communication with different types of devices. The ability to create a private 5G network, which is on-premise, enables the creation of a localized communication bubble with high bandwidth. It is also secure as one is not interacting with any other systems and it operates as a standalone system. Compared to a conventional 4G network, a 5G network offers 10 times more throughput and bandwidth and all that. The ability to provide high-capacity broadband coverage, allows tremendous flexibility to deployed forces or during relief and rescue operations.
