Steadicopter Unveils Golden Eagle HS Rotary UAV Armed with Spike Missiles

Interest in unmanned aerial platforms equipped with advanced missiles as immediately available systems for field commanders is increasing. “These systems carry fewer weapons than an attack helicopter, but field commanders can deploy multiple units in near real-time to neutralize threats,” an Israeli source stated. This has generated significant interest in various countries.

Israeli company Steadicopter has recognized this demand and recently introduced the Golden Eagle HS (Heavy Strike) Rotary Unmanned Aerial System, developed in collaboration with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. This system enhances the Golden Eagle family with a new attack capability, expanding operational versatility and reinforcing its proven performance. It integrates Rafael’s Spike missiles for precision heavy strike missions in tactical operations, including border protection, urban warfare, and battlefield engagement, ensuring dominance and deterrence.

The Golden Eagle HS delivers rapid, pinpoint strikes at stand-off range against high-value targets, even in congested environments. It allows ground forces to operate safely from a distance, engaging both stationary and moving targets. When mounted on a tactical RUAV, the Spike missile provides versatile attack angles and extended range, enhancing firepower while reducing risks to ground forces.

Equipped with advanced Spike missiles, known for their precision guidance, fire-and-forget capabilities, and high-explosive warheads, the Golden Eagle HS offers enhanced lethality in a small, low-signature platform. The system can operate in tandem formations, each RUAV carrying its own missile, ensuring continued mission capability even if some units are compromised. This approach improves operational effectiveness by distributing targets and maintaining strike capability across multiple objectives.

Weighing 50 kilograms at takeoff, the Golden Eagle HS can be armed with Rafael’s SR missile, offering a range of 2.5 km, or the LR2 missile, with a range of 5.5 km, providing real-time versatility and sensor-to-shooter capability over large operational areas.

Its advanced sensor suite, featuring a high-definition EO/IR payload and target tracker, can optionally integrate with SightX’s AI technology for enhanced target acquisition and classification. This allows continuous tracking despite temporary obstructions and differentiates between moving and stationary targets, providing real-time situational awareness and actionable intelligence for ground forces.

“It is an honour to lead Steadicopter’s exceptional team in achieving another significant milestone. The introduction of the Golden Eagle HS, in collaboration with Rafael, represents a modern tactical solution that meets today’s operational demands with unmatched precision and stand-off strike capabilities, all while protecting troops from harm,” said Itai Toren, CEO of Steadicopter.

“We are pleased to collaborate with Steadicopter in advancing combat solutions,” said a senior Rafael official. “This collaboration delivers a cutting-edge RUAV that may reshape the modern battlefield, allowing Spike missile users to deploy them in a more tactical and lethal way.”
