: Jul 31, 2013 - : 2:47 am

During final stage test flights at Keflavik International Airport (Iceland), a Sukhoi Superjet hit the runway with its landing gear retracted, while evaluating the crosswind capability of its automatic landing systems.

The flight was part of additional certification trials, but none of the three crew members and two certification centre advisors onboard was injured by the incident – although one of the experts hurt his leg during evacuation. Sukhoi said: “At the time of the incident all aircraft systems were functioning normally. Based on SCAC preliminary estimation the aircraft will be restored and returned back to test flights program.”
