SWS Aims to Expand in SE Asia and Beyond

Malaysian company, Smart Weapon Storage Inntech Sdn Bhd (SWS), which has been around for 20 years, aims to extend its footprint across the Southeast Asian region and beyond.

The firm showcases its array of cutting-edge storage systems for firearms, rifles, grenades, and ammunition, meticulously engineered to deliver efficient and automated weapon security management for deployment and safekeeping.

“We are a specialist, and a pioneer in smart weapon storage since 2004,” stated Brian Lew, Technical Director of SWS, at the company’s stand in DSA 2024.

“In the past, firearms were manually stored and kept safe using steel cages, keys, and padlocks for security. What we’ve done is revolutionised the industry by implementing smart cabinets, enhancing security and accountability.”

“This system not only maintains records and tracks both weapons and users but also enhances efficiency by assigning the responsibilities of an armourer to each user in a self-service manner,” he elaborated.

The system functions by tagging each weapon stored in the cabinets and allocating a unique ID to each officer or weapon operator. A user simply needs to scan their fingerprint to access their designated weapons and ammunition.

Brian is confident that SWS’s solution can significantly reduce wait times compared to traditional methods.

“Through an armourer, a user might wait for ten minutes or more for their weapons and ammunition. Our method can cut this wait time to just 15 seconds,” he remarked.

Moreover, each of the company’s advanced weapon storage units can be linked to a central computer in real-time, providing comprehensive data on user traffic to and from the armoury, along with their weaponry and provided ammunition.

Highlighting the success of their product marketing, Brian pointed to a recent example with the Singapore police force. There, he noted, thirty SWS systems have been deployed, markedly enhancing their operational efficiency. The Malaysian police force is also currently assessing the company’s offerings to achieve similar improvements.

“We are also exploring opportunities with police forces in Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei, Thailand, and across Southeast Asia, as well as in the Middle East,” he concluded.
