T-Heron UAS to Carry Multi-Sensor Payload

The new version of the Heron UAV, made by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will carry a multi sensor payload designed to function in extreme conditions.

The test flights of the T-Heron UAS developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will begin in March. This according to a senior company official.

According the official, the new version of the Heron is designed for high end tactical missions of ground forces.

The prototype is powered by a Rotax 912 ISC engine, but the official said that the series production T-Heron may be powered by a different engine.

The new version is designed to fly at altitudes of up to 24,000 feet, reach a speed of 120 knots and supports 4 useful payloads concurrently with a total weight of up to 400 pound.

The T-Heron complies with global standards, including STANAG 4671 requirements.

The T-Heron UAS has a 1320 pounds MTOW. The Heron –T is equipped with a retractable nose landing gear, to allow a radar payload an unobstructed field of view. The T-Heron has a full automatic and landing (ATOL) capability and may be fitted with an anti-icing system
