: Feb 14, 2014 - : 9:49 pm

Thailand ordered two AW139 twin-engine helicopters in late 2012, and on 11 February, AgustaWestland announced both had been delivered to the army. The Royal Thai Army (RTA) will employ them on transport and utility missions, with these being the first AW139s in Thai service. The contract also includes a comprehensive maintenance and training package.

Other military users of the AW139 include Ireland, Italy, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. AgustaWestland states the AW139 is the best-selling helicopter in its class, with more than 620 now in existence in approximately 60 countries. The AW139 can accommodate up to 15 passengers and it has a flight endurance of five hours.
