Türkiye, UAE Ink Military Cooperation Agreement

In a step that is expected to take defence ties between Türkiye and UAE up another level, the two countries signed a Military Cooperation Framework agreement on the opening day of the ongoing event.

Türkiye National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler and UAE Minister of State for Defense Affairs Muhammed Mubarak Fadhel Saeed Almazrouei signed the agreement. At SAHA Expo, over 50 ‘Made in UAE’ products and solutions – from multi-purpose vehicles, precision-guided munitions, secure communication solutions, and unmanned systems are on display in the UAE National Pavilion that is organized by the Emirates Defence Companies Council (EDCC). EDGE Group companies such as Halcon, Al Tariq, Adasi, Oryxlabs, Abu Dhabi Ship Building, Advanced Concepts, and Katim are showcasing products.

Meanwhile, a military training and cooperation agreement was signed between Türkiye and Ivory Coast, with Güler signing along with his counterpart Tene İbrahim Katara.

Busy Schedule

With demand for Turkish weapons continuing to rise exponentially and defence spending on the rise globally, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Türkiye Minister of Industry and Technology, has been busy meeting with a number of official delegations attending the ongoing show. As many as 178 foreign purchasing delegations and 312 official delegations, 25 of which were at ministerial level, are at the event.

On Tuesday, Kacır met with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha; the two countries have seen bilateral ties flourish in recent years and also have a thriving relationship in the defence sector. The meeting was followed by a round of talks with Iraqi Minister of Industry and Mines Prof. Dr. Halid Battal Necim. Kacır also met with Romania’s Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Stefan Radu Oprea, and Somalia’s Defence Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nu.

Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of the Defence Industry Agency of Türkiye, also had a busy schedule on the opening day. He met with Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Defense Agil Gurbanov, Azerbaijani Air Force Commander Namig İslamzade, Azerbaijani Land Forces Commander Hikmat Mirzayev, Romanian Economy Minister Stefan-Radu Oprea, Romanian National Defense Minister Angel Tilvar, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha and accompanying delegations on the first day of the exhibition.
