Vietnam Airlines has added its fifth Boeing 787-10 aircraft to its fleet, marking the 30th wide-body aircraft for the carrier. The arrival was celebrated with an event at Noi Bai International Airport.
The 787-10 Dreamliner, the largest in the Boeing 787 family, is over 68 meters long, with a payload capacity of 56-60 tons and a range of nearly 12,000 km. It features a two-class configuration, offering 24 Business Class seats and 343 Economy Class seats.
“Being a flag carrier of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines is committed to upgrading and expanding our fleet. We aim not only to provide the highest levels of passenger comfort but also to fulfill our mission of connecting Vietnam with the world, therefore significantly supporting economic and social development,” stated Dang Anh Tuan, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines.
The Boeing 787-10 includes various technological advancements and amenities designed to improve passenger experience. These features include a spacious cabin, comfortable seating, large overhead bins and windows, a modern entertainment system, adjustable LED lighting, lower cabin altitude, cleaner air, higher humidity, and improved temperature control.
The Business Class cabin offers a staggered herringbone layout with direct aisle access, providing passengers with a private and comfortable space. The seats convert into fully flat beds with a generous pitch and a 180-degree recline, making them ideal for long-haul flights. Additional features include personal entertainment devices with touch screens, a variety of entertainment options, dimmable windows, reading lights, USB ports, and spacious footrests and compartments.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is known for its operational and fuel efficiency, designed to be more environmentally friendly than previous aircraft generations, with 25% lower fuel consumption and emissions.
Vietnam Airlines currently operates nearly 100 aircraft, including five Boeing 787-10s, 11 Boeing 787-9s, and 14 Airbus A350s in its wide-body category. These wide-body aircraft are primarily used on routes to Northeast Asia, Europe, Australia, and the US, as well as domestic flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The fleet expansion enables Vietnam Airlines to better accommodate passenger demand during peak periods, particularly in light of the global aircraft shortage due to engine recalls.
