Northrop Grumman has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Danish company Terma to cooperate on Electronic Warfare (EW) simulation and training opportunities in Europe. Northrop Grumman’s simulation and training capabilities will be a key element in these EW ranges, providing realistic air combat training for fourth and fifth-generation aircraft.
“Training NATO pilots to operate in contested electromagnetic spectrum environments will be critical to mission success in the future, and by collaborating with Terma to provide our advanced capabilities, we can elevate aviation training for pilots in Europe,” said James Conroy, Northrop Grumman’s Vice President of Navigation, Targeting, and Survivability in the official press release on Wednesday (Aug. 24).
Northrop Grumman’s sophisticated simulation and training capabilities provide a modern, reactive battlespace environment, designed to help train military personnel to identify and effectively counter enemy missile or artillery threats. At the core of this suite is the Joint Threat Emitter, a ruggedized mobile system that provides advanced training capabilities. This proven capability is in service now with the United States and partner nations.
“Terma has a longstanding relationship with European Air Forces in terms of designing, manufacturing, integrating, and supporting EW equipment and are an ideal partner for Northrop Grumman on their European EW simulation and training opportunities. We look very much forward to our partnership,” said Thorbjørn Machholm, Senior Vice President of Support and Services at Terma.
The MoU establishes the relationship between the companies to contribute their expertise to creating modern, effective air operations training ranges, combining Northrop Grumman’s leadership in digital environments with Terma’s long-standing support of regional partners.
