Thai Airways and PTT have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct a feasibility study on air cargo business partnership.

Auttapol Rerkpiboon, PTT President and Chief Executive Officer, and Suvadhana Sibunruang, Acting THAI Chief Executive Officer, signed the MoU at THAI’s Head Office, on Monday. Chansak Chuenchom, Senior Executive Vice President, Engineering and Infrastructure, and Varangkana Luerojvong, THAI Chief, Aviation Business Unit, were present to witness the signing.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, THAI has operated its cargo business and chartered flights to deliver domestic and international agricultural and manufacturing produces, frozen food, electronic devices, car parts as well as types of products that require special care and attention such as medicines, and vaccines, said Sibunruang. As for the chartered flights, customers may select time and aircraft type to deliver their cargo on the routes to which THAI operates.

The purpose of the MoU is to conduct a feasibility study on partnership opportunities for freighter, cargo warehouse, commercial platform, and other related businesses. The partnership also aims to boost the recovery of the national economy, support the National Strategy, and strengthen Thailand’s position as regional cargo hub.

PTT aims to establish logistics infrastructure including land, water, and air freight delivery, as well as cargo management and digital platform development, said Rerkpiboon. Thanks to the partnership with an experienced partner, PTT is set to become full service third party logistics service provider.
