Thailand’s arms manufacturing company Chaiseri has delivered fifteen First Win 4×4 Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) to Bhutan.

The APCs were delivered in a ceremony held in Bangkok on Nov. 19. Consisting of one command vehicle, eight ATVs (All-Terrain Vehicle), five First Win II MPVs (Multi-Purpose Vehicle), and one ambulance type, all of the vehicles will be deployed by Bhutan’s peacekeeping forces under UN mandate in Central Africa next month.

In a contract worth THB225 million (about US$6.85 million) signed between the Royal Bhutan Army and Chaiseri last October, all the vehicles were to be ready for delivery within 45 days after the contract signing.

First Win 4X4 is a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) APC developed and produced by Chaiseri in Thailand. With a weight of about 11 tonnes, it offers ballistic protection up to STANAG level 3, and mine protection up to STANAG level 4a for its crew and 10 passengers. Powered with a Cummins diesel engine delivering between 197-330 hp (depending on the version), it has a maximum speed of about 100 km/h, and a maximum range of 600 km.

First introduced into service with the Royal Thai Army in 2012, First Win and First Win II 4×4 APCs also have been exported to the Royal Malaysian Army and the Indonesian Army. To date, more than 200 of all First Win 4×4 variants have been produced.
